Suma Capital, the Barcelona-based independent Private Equity firm, has made two recent additions to its Sustainability initiative. The new team members will reinforce in particular the energy efficiency investment program.

Alex Fuentes joins Suma Capital as Investment Director and brings 10 years of relevant experience in the field of energy efficiency. He joins from Ferrovial, where he had led energy efficiency projects and covered a diverse range of Energy Service Companies (“ESCOs”). Before that, Alex had focused on developing alternative energy solutions at French group Dalkia (now “Veolia Environnement”) in Spain and in Mexico. Alex holds an industrial engineering Master degree from Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña (“UPC”) and a Master in aeronautics from ENSAM (Paris). He speaks fluent Spanish, Catalan, French and English.

Also joining the Cleantech division, Begoña Mata contributes to her Senior Associate role more than 10 years of experience in financial reporting and audit. Her first professional experience was with KPMG in audit. Afterwards, she was contracted as Group controller at Grupo Hospitalario Quirón (formerly “USP Hospitals”), reporting ultimately to several Private Equity shareholders such as Doughty Hanson and Cinven.

Begoña holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Administration from the Islas Baleares university. She speaks fluent Spanish, Catalan and English.

Suma Capital’s Sustainability initiative has grown significantly over the past couple of years.  These recent team additions confirm the Firm’s commitment to the strategy designed in 2013: to be a private equity multi-asset manager, with a focus on two investment programs, each with a dedicated team: one fostering the Growth of Spanish SMEs and another one financing Sustainability solutions. These recruitments further consolidate Suma Capital’s talent pool and sector expertise.
