Waste to Energy Advanced Solutions (WtEnergy) is a Spain-based company headquartered in Barcelona focused on converting non-recyclable industrial waste and biomass into syngas through advanced gasification technology. The solution is deployed through small to mid-scale modular plants (approximately 5–50 MW) designed to be integrated directly into industrial sites, targeting thermal and energy applications.
The syngas produced can replace fossil fuels in energy-intensive industrial processes and, depending on the conversion pathway, can be further processed into lower-carbon molecules such as hydrogen, methanol or sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Founded in 2017 by Andrés Ponce, the company focuses on sectors including cement, paper, rendering, chemicals and ceramics, with projects in operation and in advanced development stages.
We support WtEnergy in an execution and industrial scale-up phase, focused on accelerating project delivery and strengthening the replicability of its model. Priorities include standardising the technology and operations of its modular plants, reinforcing engineering and commissioning capabilities, and expanding syngas applications in line with industrial requirements.
In parallel, the company is scaling across Europe with an emphasis on disciplined deployment, operational robustness and clear traceability of results, ensuring integration in industrial environments where continuity and safety are critical.
WtEnergy’s impact is generated through its core business: recovering energy from waste and biomass to produce energy and syngas that can substitute fossil fuels in industrial uses. This supports emissions reduction linked to energy consumption in hard-to-abate sectors while providing a productive route for waste streams that would otherwise be landfilled or conventionally incinerated.
By deploying modular plants on industrial sites, the solution supports circular economy objectives and energy resilience by combining waste management and on-site energy supply through a resource-efficiency logic.
