Suma Capital holds its fifth annual sustainability summit in Madrid

The firm held the ‘V Suma Sustainable Summit’ and presented the first ‘Suma Net Zero Index’, a pioneering study that captures and quantifies the positioning and sentiment of citizens on climate change.

Suma Capital held its fifth annual sustainability meeting this May in Madrid, a well-established event that aims to raise awareness of climate urgency and accelerate sustainable investment.

Under the name ‘V Suma Sustainable Summit: Committed to a new future’, the firm has once again brought together leading private equity figures and sustainability experts to exchange ideas, share knowledge and discuss current and future trends in the sector.

The meeting was attended by renowned experts such as Manuel Maqueda and Enrique Dans, professors and specialists in sustainability; Fernando Trias de Bes, economist and expert in management and innovation; Valvanera Ulargui, director of the Spanish Climate Change Office; Víctor Viñuales, sociologist and co-founder of ECODES; and Natalia Berenguer, general secretary for Europe and member of the Eurozone board at Danone.

One of the highlights of this edition was the presentation of the company’s 2023 Sustainability Report, as well as the ‘Suma Net Zero Index’. The latter is a pioneering study, developed together with Salvetti & Llombart and Greemko, which captures and quantifies the positioning and sentiment of the public on climate change, gathering opinions from different segments of the population.

The fifth meeting has reinforced Suma Capital’s position as a leader in promoting sustainable practices and investments aimed at decarbonizing the economy. This event reminds us that achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement is a collective responsibility, as governments, companies and also citizens play a crucial role in building a more sustainable future.
