Suma Capital has formalized a new growth capital operation in Vallfirest Tecnologías Forestales, a leading company in innovation for wildfire firefighting. The investment is made through the SC Growth Fund II and aims to support Vallfirest’s growth plan, led by its founder Javier Baena, by consolidating its position in key markets such as North America and Mercosur, while also promoting strategic acquisitions to complement its offerings.
Founded in 2007 in Vallgorguina (Barcelona), Vallfirest is a pioneering company in the design and development of advanced technologies for the prevention and fighting of wildfires. With a range of products that includes equipment, machinery, specialized tools, and cutting-edge technology, the company has made a significant global impact, operating in nearly 100 countries and with subsidiaries in Uruguay and the United States.
With a team of over 50 employees and a turnover exceeding €15 million, Vallfirest has maintained a trajectory marked by innovation and sustainability. Its products, backed by a strong focus on R&D and proprietary patents, maximize the effectiveness of wildfire interventions, one of the main sources of CO2 emissions globally. In 2024, wildfires generated 8.6 billion tons of CO2, highlighting the urgency of innovative solutions like those offered by Vallfirest to address this growing global problem.
The capital injection from Suma Capital will enable Vallfirest to expand its production capacity, strengthen its presence in strategic markets, and acquire complementary companies. These steps aim to enhance the company’s ability to serve clients such as firefighters, local governments, and private companies that face the increasing challenges posed by wildfires, which are becoming more intense and frequent due to climate change.
Through its funds, such as SC Growth Fund II, the firm supports companies leading innovation in key sectors such as decarbonization, energy efficiency, and the circular economy, driving projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the fight against climate change.
“Vallfirest has an impressive track record in the development of innovative products and solutions for fighting wildfires, sustainable growth, and a solid customer base in nearly 100 countries. We are proud to support their expansion and the plan laid out by Javier and his partners. Our goal is to promote economic growth with a positive impact on both the environment and society, and Vallfirest aligns perfectly with that vision”, says Pau Bermúdez-Cañete, partner at Suma Capital.
“This capital injection is essential to continue expanding our technological advantage and improve our commercial reach worldwide” says Javier Baena, founder and president of Vallfirest. “We remain focused on enhancing the experience of firefighting professionals by developing innovative products and technologies that make their work safer and more effective”.
This operation reinforces Suma Capital’s commitment to the transition to a low-carbon economy, consolidating its position as a key investor in companies that generate a positive impact. SC Growth Fund II marks its eleventh investment in Spain, reaffirming the critical role of Spanish SMEs in the fight against CO2 emissions.
For this transaction, Vallfirest was advised by Crea Inversión (mergers and acquisitions) and RCD (legal). Suma Capital was advised by Schneider (ESG), PwC (financial and commercial), and Pérez Llorca (legal and tax).
