Hydrosat Secures $10 Million Investment from Suma Capital to Scale Its Thermal Intelligence Technology

Hydrosat, the leading provider of thermal infrared satellite data and AI-powered analytics, today announced a $10 million investment from Suma Capital through an extension of its Series B financing. The investment was made through SC Net Zero Ventures, the scaleup fund within Suma Capital’s SC Venture strategy.

Suma Capital joins Hydrosat’s shareholder base following the company’s $60 million Series B financing announced earlier this year, alongside Hartree Partners, Subutai Capital Partners, Space 4 Earth and Truffle Capital. Existing investors – including Luxembourg Future Fund, OTB Ventures, Blue Bear Capital, Statkraft Ventures, Cultivation Capital and Santa Barbara Venture Partners – continue to support the company’s long-term growth.

As one of Europe’s most water-stressed regions, the Iberian Peninsula faces growing challenges from drought, agricultural water demand, and increasingly severe wildfires. These trends are driving investment in advanced Earth observation technologies that help governments and organizations monitor critical resources and respond earlier to emerging risks. Against this backdrop, the investment will support Hydrosat’s growth across Spain while enabling the company to further scale its thermal intelligence capabilities, expand its engineering and commercial teams, and accelerate the development of new solutions for water resource management, critical infrastructure monitoring, and wildfire detection.

Hydrosat delivers thermal infrared satellite data and AI-powered analytics that help governments and enterprises monitor water resources, optimize agricultural production, and manage critical natural resources more effectively. Through its IrriWatch platform, the company transforms satellite-derived thermal data into actionable intelligence that enables customers to assess crop water stress, improve irrigation efficiency, increase agricultural productivity, and support more sustainable resource management. Today, IrriWatch serves more than 90 customers across over 70 countries through a combination of per-hectare SaaS offerings and recurring thermal data subscription agreements for organizations in the agriculture, insurance, and public sectors.

Hydrosat currently operates a thermal infrared satellite constellation providing more than 10 million km² of coverage per day. The company’s is designed to deliver frequent, high-resolution thermal intelligence at a scale that significantly expands the availability of commercial thermal satellite data. The new investment will support the continued expansion of Hydrosat’s constellation, further enhancing data frequency, geographic coverage, and the capabilities of its climate intelligence platform.

Natalia Ruiz, Partner at Suma Capital, said: “The most transformative climate technologies will be those capable of turning vast amounts of data into competitive advantages for essential sectors of the economy. Hydrosat has demonstrated an exceptional ability to build a unique technology platform and establish itself as a leader in a category with enormous growth potential. We are proud to support the team in this next stage of its journey and contribute to building a global leader in thermal intelligence”.

Pieter Fossel, CEO of Hydrosat, said: “We look forward to working with Suma Capital as an incredibly strong strategic partner to bring Hydrosat’s capabilities to more customers across the Iberian market and Europe. The Iberian Peninsula is on the front line of challenges such as water scarcity, drought, and increasingly severe wildfires. We believe thermal intelligence can play an important role in helping governments and organizations monitor these risks earlier, protect critical resources, and make more informed operational decisions.”

With this investment, Suma Capital further strengthens its commitment to innovative solutions capable of accelerating the ecological transition and enhancing resilience to climate-related challenges. Hydrosat represents a new generation of companies that transform Earth observation into a powerful decision-making tool, combining space technology, advanced analytics and industrial applications to address challenges such as water scarcity, improved agricultural productivity and climate adaptation.

The investment was conducted through SC Net Zero Ventures, the scaleup fund that is part of Suma Capital’s SC Venture strategy.

Hydrosat, which already operates two thermal satellites and provides daily coverage across more than 10 million km², will leverage the investment to support key strategic initiatives, including continued constellation development and international expansion.
