Suma Capital invests in Kanguro Delivery, a startup revolutionizing last-mile logistics

Suma Capital, a leading impact investment firm, has announced its strategic investment in Kanguro, a Barcelona-based startup redefining last-mile logistics. Through its ENION I fund, which belongs to the SC Ventures strategy of Suma Capital, the firm will support Kanguro in expanding its operations and scaling its innovative technology across Europe.

The funding round also included participation from SEGO Finance and ONA Capital, highlighting the strong support Kanguro has garnered for its mission. This investment aligns with Suma Capital’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in logistics optimization.

Xavier Sánchez, Partner of SC Ventures at Suma Capital, said: “We are thrilled to support Kanguro in its mission to transform urban logistics. Their innovative approach to last-mile delivery not only provides convenience for end users but also significantly reduces environmental impact. This partnership underscores our commitment to investing in businesses that align with sustainability and technological advancement.”

Founded in 2021 by César Valencia, Xavi Valverde, and Iván Lorca, Kanguro addresses the pressing challenges of last-mile delivery by creating a network of out-of-home (OOH) delivery points, where the end-user can pick-up the package avoiding having to wait for it at home, whilst developing software for couriers who use its technology so that they know where the package is at all times, if it has been picked it up, and manage the return if applicable. This innovative solution, using AI agents to create the OOH network, customer service and expansion, ensures secure package deliveries without requiring recipients to be home, reducing inefficiencies, traffic and pollution in urban logistics.

By consolidating deliveries and optimizing routes, Kanguro’s model reduces up to 14 kg of CO₂ per day per delivery vehicle and saves an average of 50 km per day per driver, significantly lowering the carbon footprint of last-mile logistics.

Kanguro currently operates over 1,000 convenience points in collaboration with major clients such as Amazon, UPS, and On-Time. The company is also integrating additional operators, including GLS, MRW and Paack, which collectively represent 80% of the e-commerce shipping market. Kanguro currently operates in Spain and Portugal, and is set to expand its network to France and Germany by mid-2025, further solidifying its position as a leader in sustainable logistics solutions.
