Enrique Tombas, Chairman of Suma Capital, assumes the presidency of SpainCap

Enrique Tombas, Founding Partner and Chairman of Suma Capital, has been appointed President of SpainCap, the association representing the venture capital and private equity industry in Spain.

SpainCap brings together more than 200 national and international management firms, institutional investors, and service providers. It serves as a key meeting point for the industry and a channel for dialogue with public and private institutions, promoting long-term investment and the development of Spain’s private capital ecosystem.

Enrique Tombas has over 30 years of experience in private equity and investment banking. At Suma Capital, he leads an investment platform focused on assets and companies committed to decarbonization, resource efficiency, and energy sovereignty. The firm’s approach combines a rigorous investment process with active management aimed at value creation, supported by structured monitoring of key financial and sustainability indicators.

Enrique Tombas stated: “It is an honor to take on the presidency of SpainCap with a strong sense of service to the sector. We will work to reinforce best practices, contribute to a stable and predictable framework, and continue bringing private capital closer to the growth and competitiveness needs of companies”.

Before founding Suma Capital, Enrique Tombas developed his professional career at several financial institutions, including WindCorp, Banco Urquijo, and Banco Intesa-Sanpaolo.

Alongside this appointment, SpainCap has named Alejandro Diazayas, Founding Partner of Nexxus Iberia, and Lourdes Álvarez de Toledo, Partner at JME Ventures, as Vice Presidents of the association, adding profiles with complementary experience across different segments of private capital.

SpainCap renews its leadership structure with the appointment of Enrique Tombas as President. 

The association represents Spain’s venture capital and private equity ecosystem and promotes long-term investment and industry best practices.
