#SC Expansion

Gunni & Trentino acquires a majority stake in Illusion and expects to reach €100 million in revenue in 2026

Gunni & Trentino, a Spanish high-end interior design group specialising in kitchens, bathrooms, flooring and furniture for residential and hospitality projects, has acquired a majority stake in Illusion, a company specialising in the design and integration of technology solutions for high-end projects.

The transaction forms part of Gunni & Trentino’s growth plan, developed alongside Suma Capital, which became a shareholder in July 2022, when the company was generating €50 million in revenue, and currently holds a 40% stake through its SC Expansion strategy.

Based in Marbella, Illusion has more than 20 years of experience, generates annual revenue of around €7 million and has a team of more than 90 professionals. The company develops integrated systems covering electrical infrastructure, lighting, natural light control, sound, video, climate control and automation, and operates two Experience Centres in Marbella and Sotogrande.

Gunni & Trentino, which closed 2025 with revenue of €83 million, around 10% of which came from international markets, is aiming to reach €100 million in revenue in 2026. With the addition of Illusion, the combined team now consists of more than 390 professionals.

Third acquisition in four years

Since Suma Capital’s investment, Illusion marks Gunni & Trentino’s third acquisition, following Terraza Balear in 2023 and Deulonder in 2025.

All three transactions are part of the buy-and-build strategy pursued by Gunni & Trentino and Suma Capital to consolidate a fragmented market and build a comprehensive offering. Terraza Balear strengthened Gunni & Trentino’s presence in Mallorca; Deulonder expanded its positioning in the luxury kitchen segment; and Illusion brings in-house engineering and technology integration capabilities from the earliest stages of a project. In this case, the transaction builds on the two brands’ previous collaboration on highly complex projects, including the landmark The Sky Marbella development by Rivestia Costa del Sol.

Suma Capital’s investment in Gunni & Trentino reflects the investment thesis of SC Expansion, which focuses on profitable companies in the European lower middle market and supports them, alongside their founders and management teams, through processes of organic and inorganic growth, professionalisation, digitalisation and international expansion.

Since Suma Capital’s investment, Gunni & Trentino has also strengthened its sustainability strategy, structured around three main areas: product, by prioritising suppliers that incorporate sustainable practices and the use of responsible materials; operations; and social commitment.

“The addition of Illusion strategically completes our value proposition. Today’s market increasingly demands more integrated, multidisciplinary projects, and having a leading team in technology integration, video, sound, home automation and lighting allows us to offer a truly 360° solution for architects, interior designers, developers, contractors and other clients across the sector.”, says José Manuel Moreno, CEO of Gunni & Trentino.

“When we invested in Gunni & Trentino, we identified the opportunity to build a leading integrated platform in a fragmented market. Illusion brings a complementary technology capability that the group had previously outsourced, allowing it to broaden the scope of its services and create new commercial opportunities”, adds David Arroyo, Partner at Suma Capital.

Continuity of the founding team

Illusion will retain its brand identity, operational autonomy, team and capacity for innovation. Its founding shareholders, Víctor Periáñez and Malen Horton, will remain shareholders and continue to lead the business, with Víctor Periáñez serving as CEO of the company.

“We have spent more than 20 years building Illusion, and today we are taking a step that will allow us to do so with even greater strength. This partnership gives us greater stability, more capacity to keep growing and new opportunities to take on increasingly ambitious projects, while remaining true to the essence that has brought us this far,” says Víctor Periáñez, co-founder and CEO of Illusion.

The two companies already work together on highly complex projects on the Costa del Sol, including The Sky Marbella development. The group plans to progressively roll out Illusion’s capabilities across the rest of its showroom network and extend them to its international operations, significantly expanding the potential market for these newly integrated services.

Following the transaction, Gunni & Trentino will focus its next phase of development on integrating Illusion, driving organic growth and generating commercial synergies. The company sees international expansion as the main growth driver for the coming years and expects to maintain double-digit sales growth, supported also by the continued development of its own Gunni & Trentino brand.

Gunni & Trentino was advised by Russell Bedford on the due diligence process and by Fourlaw on legal matters.

The transaction marks the group’s third acquisition in four years and broadens its offering by adding home automation, engineering and technology integration services.
