Platform for projects based on the supply of thermal energy from biomass for residential and commercial buildings in order to reduce electricity consumption, improve energy efficiency and reduce their carbon footprint.
Energy demand for heating and cooling accounts for more than 50% of total energy demand in Europe, with space heating being the main source of heat demand in the residential and tertiary sectors. By using energy more efficiently, and therefore consuming less, consumers can reduce their energy bills, help protect the environment, mitigate climate change, reduce dependence on external oil and gas suppliers and support sustainable growth of the economy.
This heating project uses biomass from wood waste for residential heating, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, CO2 emissions and air pollution through the use of gas cleaning systems. The project supports sustainable forest management with PEFC certification, which guarantees that biomass comes from sustainably managed forests and that the entire biomass supply chain meets stringent environmental, social and economic criteria. This includes criteria related to forest management, biodiversity conservation, worker safety and community involvement.
The implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings reduces energy consumption, controls costs for owners and users, mitigates the impact of rising energy prices and promotes less dependence on fossil fuels, reduced emissions and improved air quality, benefiting both owners/users and society.
The CO2 emission reductions achieved by the three projects over our investment period are estimated to be more than 13,000 tonnes.
Inadequate treatment and conversion of biomass can lead to harmful pollution, including particulate emissions. However, the installation of gas cleaning systems considerably limits these emissions.
