Group of energy efficiency projects for the hotel sector aimed at reducing energy consumption through the implementation of various measures, such as energy management, air conditioning, heating and lighting. The projects were developed and implemented by Quimera Energy. Contracts were signed with a total of 8 hotels from leading hotel chains such as Meliá, Ritz, Hyatt and Iberostars. With this investment, a more efficient use of energy is promoted, and some 21,200 tonnes less CO2 eq are emitted into the atmosphere over their useful life.
By using energy more efficiently, and therefore consuming less, consumers can reduce their energy bills, help protect the environment, mitigate climate change, reduce dependence on external oil and gas suppliers and support sustainable economic growth. To achieve these benefits, it is necessary to improve energy efficiency along the entire energy chain, from production to final consumption.
The EU has set a target of 32.5% improvement in energy efficiency by 2030 compared to 2007 levels.
Energy efficiency measures in domestic, commercial and industrial buildings generate significant energy savings and reduce energy costs by installing improvements such as LED lighting, air conditioning and photovoltaic panels.
The implementation of energy efficiency measures in buildings reduces energy consumption, controls costs for owners and users, mitigates the impact of rising energy prices and promotes less dependence on fossil fuels, reduced emissions and improved air quality, benefiting both owners/users and society.
In terms of environmental impact, the implementation of the measures described above has resulted in savings of 21,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the lifetime of the projects.
The implementation of energy efficiency solutions significantly reduces emissions, but some solutions rely on fossil fuels and may be constrained in the future due to environmental regulations and taxes. The environmental benefits of electricity efficiency measures depend on the evolution of the electricity mix towards renewable sources.
